The most important video you wish you’d never watched

If you ever wondered why you should support Bradley Manning, or why Wikileaks exists, or why Darker Net publishes what it does, or why there are so many wars in this world of ours – this documentary provides some of the answers. It’s all here: George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Bradley Manning, Noam Chomsky, Marshall McLuhan, Wikileaks…

In brief, the documentary connects the messages of Huxley´s Brave New World with the politics of modern US-warfare. It stresses the role of information overload through technical devices and the similarity between real war (“Collateral Murder”) and video games like “Call of Duty”. To blur the offline with the online reality is a precondition for rationalising a war on terror in Western democracies. The documentary includes interviews or quotes or references to the people quoted above and many more. This is a must see (and should be added to every school curricular). Note: thanks to Birgitta Jonsdottir for recommending this video.

Do not despair… while the above documentary paints a bleak picture, below is another that provides hope.

  1. Exactly what I’m arguing in my novel. I’ve been saying this stuff since I was a teenager – railing against ‘war-porn’, religious justification for the denigration of women and the ongoing militarization of society.
This is why I’ve created a heroine who calls for the non-violent overthrow of the masculinization of society and replacing it with a world based on the traditional female approaches such as cooperation rather than competition, protecting the weakest rather than exploitation, love rather than hate and the abolition of nation states and power structures. That’s why she coins the neologism LOWERARCHY – it means the opposite of hierarchy. She reads Brave New World in the novel and comes to the same conclusions as this film.
The story is a satirical reworking of the Jesus myth, set in the UK in 2012 with a middle-aged woman as the MS.siah – a female Chosen One who realises humans are destroying themselves and the ecosystem and develops a plan to make the future female – as men are too dangerous to keep around :) Imagine a cross between Mary Poppins, Jesus and the Pied Piper of Hamlyn done in a Swiftian manner.
My heroine decides that if women keep giving birth to more children the system will keep killing and abusing them, but if women form a world-wide secret network and stop giving birth the system will crash.
People who’ve read it say it’s brilliant but it’s hard to promote anything as radical but I’m going to continue as it’s so important to raise consciousness of these issues.
I’m also starting a campaign to Keep Religion Out of Schools – KROS – as these narratives disempower people and normalize the madness that suits the elites.
Thanks again – I’ll watch the second film later and get back to you.

  2. Reblogged this on dogsharon and commented:
Heavy but crucial to understand the state human society’s in. Exactly the argument contained in my novel – DOG Sharon: The Future is Female

    • Thanks for link (even if it is a Murdoch one). An inevitability once they’ve worked out a way not to disrupt passenger flow. The interesting aspect is how they will link this technology to others that track people generally, including CCTV, smart cards, etc and what happens to that – presumably into a database such as Trapwire or a local equivalent or both. Big Brother has been around for years of course and there’s no rolling back. Ultimately, however, no amount of knowledge about citizens can be of any use whatsoever if that citizenry in sufficient large scale rejects those forms of governance that only seek to control and not serve.

      • Exactly. In addition to spying and collecting data on everybody, I thought they were doing it to bring “terrorism” back into people’s minds as folk aren’t scared enough and might start enjoying their lives too much for the authorities’ comfort. When people are scared they’re more easily managed.

  5. Loved the Chaplin speech – no wonder they hounded him for so-called UnAmerican activities – Come on Yanks – don’t fall for the McCarthyist lies – you are not cattle but humans…
